As a general definition : Scheduling is
committing resources to the realization of an event at a defined
time. Scheduling is committing resources to a plan. Time can be
specified (Scheduling a flight to leave at 8:00) or floating as
part of a sequence of events (today's production schedule: orders
122, 123, 124)
